The Medical Faculty at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, Department of Medicine III (Director: Prof. Dr. A. M. Zeiher) invites applications for the following position to be filled at the next possible date (unlimited appointment as Civil Servant or Salaried Employee):
Professorship (W2) for basic mechanisms of stem cell biology in cardiology
The successful candidate should cover the full spectrum of molecular cardiology with special emphasis on translational research. The Molecular Cardiology Professorship is a constituent element of the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary System (ECCPS) and the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). A close cooperation with the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration (Director: Prof. Dr. S. Dimmeler) is expected.
The faculty is looking for an internationally renowned scientist with a strong, internationally visible background in epigenetics, metabolism or RNA biology. Specific expertise in cardiovascular biology would be advantageous, but is not a prerequisite. In addition, experience in teaching and management of an own working group as well as proof of capabilities to successfully secure external funding and an excellent international publication record are required.
Prerequisites for the application are a university degree, teaching ability, doctorate, scientific achievements such as habilitation or comparable scientific achievements at a non-university institution. The designated salary for the position is based on “W2” of the German university scale or equivalent.
