The International Challenge on Economic Ideas (ICEI) is an international essay competition aimed towards undergraduate students from all over the world. ICEI is a nonprofit annual event that is organized by the Economics Student Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). All participants are expected to elaborate on the theme of “Financial Policy to Create Economic Sustainability”.
The winners of ICEI 2015 will receive:
•1st Place: 700 USD + certificate + the Best Essays Compilation book + 10 minutes presentation in the FSDE seminar
•2nd Place: 500 USD + certificate + the Best Essays Compilation book
•3rd Place: 300 USD + certificate + the Best Essays Compilation book
The top three winners will be invited to attend the FSDE International Seminar in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with VIP status and the privilege to talk with the speakers. (Tickets and accommodation will be subsidized by the committee)

• What is ICEI?
International Challenge on Economic Ideas is an online international essay competition. It is a part of Forum Studi dan Diskusi Ekonomi 2015.
• What is FSDE?
Forum Studi dan Diskusi Ekonomi (literally means Economic Studies and Discussions Forum) is an annual event held by students of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
• Who can join ICEI 2015?
All undergraduate students from any country in the world could take part in ICEI. Participants are required to submit a scanned copy of their student identity card or any other documents stating their current education status upon submitting the essay. Only individual submission is allowed. Team submission will be rejected.
• How and when do I submit my essay?
Participants can submit their essay by e-mail attachment to icei.fsde2015@gmail.com (please follow our guideline carefully regarding the essay submission). The essay submission is open from June 1, 2015, to September 30, 2015 (21.59 UTC+7). No hard copy of your essay is necessary.
• Do I have to pay for ICEI 2015’s registration?
The ICEI FSDE 2015 Essay Competition is free of charge.
• Will there be an essay conference or presentation session?
Unfortunately, we do not hold any essay conferences, but the top three winners will be invited to attend the FSDE International Seminar in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with VIP status and the privilege to talk with the speakers. The 1st place winner will be given the opportunity to make a presentation on their essay in the seminar for 10 minutes (Please kindly check our guideline).
• Why do I have to provide my identity prior to downloading the guideline?
Future participants are required to provide their identity prior to downloading so that the committee can contact our future participants regarding any changes in the competition and send a reminder for the deadline.
• When will the winner be announced?
The winners will be announced on FSDE 2015’s Official Website on October 16, 2015. We will notify the winners through direct e-mail notice.
• How will my essay be graded?
The assessment is comprised of language and content judging. Our panel of judges is selected not only from Universitas Gadjah Mada lecturers but also professionals that have competency in this major. We choose not to publish the member of the panel to prevent any bias in the judging process.
• What are the prizes for the winner? How will the winner get the prizes?
All winners get money prizes, certificates, and essay compilation books. The certificate and essay compilation book will be sent directly to the winner's street address via postal service.
• I submitted the essay after the deadline closed. Will my essay be accepted?
Unfortunately no. To avoid any possible failure in sending your essay on the deadline, please submit your essay a few days before the closing date.
