CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP - NATIONAL GALLERY OF DENMARK

Internships in the conservation department
Since 1971 the Conservation Department at Statens Museum for Kunst, the National Gallery of Denmark has offered internships that have enabled students and graduates of conservation programmes to participate in the museum’s objective to research and preserve the rich and diverse collections. The Centre for Art Technological Studies and Conservation – CATS – is part of the department and is a collaborative venture between Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK), The National Museum of Denmark (NMD) and the School of Conservation (SoC) at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.

Conservation areas
The Conservation Department comprises three studios caring for a) paintings, b) drawings & prints, and c) contemporary art & objects. The internship program offers students an opportunity to develop and refine their skills through the examination and treatment of works of art under the guidance of professional conservators. Informal discussions contribute to the programme. In addition, the internship will include other museum-related activities.

Candidates for internships should be students of a recognized training programme in conservation or have equivalent training. Candidates must have Danish or English language skills.
