in the Framework of the Celebration of its 20th Anniversary,

in cooperation with 

Modus Vivendi Center, Yerevan;

Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, Yerevan

and Caucasian Centre for Iranian Studies, Yerevan

organizes the 2nd International Conference on Zaza Studies

THE ZAZA PEOPLE AND THE ANATOLIAN ALEVI PHENOMENON

The Conference will be held in Yerevan on June 4-5, 2016.

The current, 2nd International Conference on Zaza Studies will focus on the Zaza religious identities, various aspects of the Zaza history, culture, language, folklore, as well as wider – on such a complex phenomenon as Anatolian culture and its peculiarities in different ethnic environments. 

The 1st International Conference on Zaza Studies “The Zaza People: History, Language, Culture, Identity” was held by the same Organizers in 2011,October 28-30,  on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of “Iran and the Caucasus”, and was dedicated to the memory of Academician Friedrich Carl Andreas, the pioneer of the field (http://armacad.info/the-zaza-people-language-culture-identity-28-30-oct-2011-yerevan-armenia; the program http://armacad.info/programme and abstracts http://armacad.info/abstracts). The interim colloquium “The Alevi Zazas and their Neighbours” was held in Yerevan, in 2014, October 25-27.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is December 31, 2015. Abstracts must contain:

  • Name(s)
  • Affiliation
  • E-mail address
  • Title of the paper 
  • A short abstract with a clearly stated thesis (up to 300 words)

Food and cultural program during the gathering will be covered by the Organizers. We will likely have a limited number of travel and accommodation grants available for a number of participants.
