It is scheduled for April 29-30, 2016, on the Mississippi State campus in Starkville, MS. The theme of the symposium is “Everything Old is New Again: Creative Approaches to Familiar Subjects in History.”

We welcome papers on any historical topic, including those that reflect the Mississippi State University History Department’s strengths in the history of science and technology; agricultural, rural, and environmental history; the history of international security and internal safety; the Civil War; gender history; and African American history and civil rights.

The paper should be based on the student’s original research in primary sources. Interested students should submit a proposal or abstract of not more than 500 words to Dr. Matthew Lavine at shur@lists.msstate.edu by March 1, 2016. Students whose papers have been accepted will be notified by March 15, 2016.
