Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, Faculty of Humanities, Chair of Old Polish Literature, Rhetoric and Bible Studies, Department of Biblical Literature, and Department of Transcultural Literary Studies, and Chair of Biblical History of the Faculty of Theology cordially invite researchers and PhD students interested in the phenomenon of Jerusalem in literature and culture to participate in interdisciplinary conference.

The subject of the conference concerns literary and cultural studies broadly understood. We are interested in the multifold perspective of approaches to Jerusalem, to its symbolism and its understanding, and its reception in literature and culture.

The aim of the conference is to assemble, elaborate, and develop results of researches in many fields concerning mainly:

– Motif of Jerusalem in literature and other cultural texts over the centuries

– Presence in the language (phraseology, terminology, etc.)

– Multiculturalism of Jerusalem, at present and in historical perspective

– Role of Jerusalem in the religious traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam

– Symbolism of Jerusalem and its use in philosophy, theology, politics, etc.

– Phenomenon of pilgrimaging to Jerusalem.

Conference schedule

November 20th, 2015 is deadline of conference registration – paper proposals (form attached) should be sent to the address jerusalemconference.uksw@gmail.com

Notice that we plan 20 minutes presentations in English or in Polish.

Submission of the paper proposal does not automatically register you for the conference. Decisions will be sent until December 30th, 2015. If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified and must than pay the conference fee.

October 30th, 2016 is deadline for submission of your complete paper to the editor (at the conference address jerusalemconference@gmail.com).

Your text (only in English) must be prepared as a single document (maximum 10.000 words). All tables, graphs, and pictures must be included in PDF format.

Conference fees

For each accepted paper author must pay the FULL conference fee.

Payment:30th  January 2016

Registration fee is equal to 170 EUR/190 USD

For participants from Poland the registration fee is 700 PLN.
