We have the pleasure to invite you to the conference HISTORIANS WITHOUT BORDERS: THE USE AND ABUSE OF HISTORY IN CONFLICTS, and to be a part in creating an international Network of Historians without Borders.
The two-day Conference will begin with a welcome reception on Wednesday evening 18th May 2016 and the Conference will be opened on Thursday morning at the University of Helsinki with addresses by Mr. Erkki Tuomioja, President of Historians without Borders in Finland and previous Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, and Nobel Peace prize laureate, President Martti Ahtisaari. Historians without Borders in Finland is responsible for the Conference with the cooperation of and input from the University of Helsinki, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Finland and the Finnish Institute for International Affairs.
The Conference will work in four plenary sessions with keynote speakers and panelists. The themes of the Conference will be explored in six separate, partly parallel workshop sessions with the possibility of analysing closely the role, use and abuse of history in specific ongoing or potential conflicts. At the closing plenary a decision will be taken on how to continue the work for creating an international network of Historians without Borders.

Note that your registration will not be completed before you have paid the conference fee (EUR 100 for non-members / EUR 25 for members). Included in the price are the conference materials as well as invitations to evening receptions and the Friday lunch hosted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs

In case you wish cancel your attendance, please write a written request by May 1 2016 to info@historianswithoutborders.fi. For cancellations made by May 1, 75 % of your registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be given for cancellations made after May 1.
Please ensure that all payments made by bank transfer are NET of bank charges and commission fees. Please mark all payments with “HWB 2016”, and make sure that the registrant’s name is clearly indicated as unidentified bank transfers cannot be processed.
