VIII Moscow International Conference of Higher Education Researchers

Dynamic Universities for Dynamic World

Russian Association of Higher Education Researchers

Today the world is constantly changing. Almost everything is undergoing a transformation: technologies, institutions, practices, and organizational structures. These changes rapidly penetrate every area of the social life, and higher education is not an exception. In this situation, contemporary universities should quickly adjust to constantly changing tendencies and become a source of brand-new ideas and practices. At the same time, higher education institutions are rigid structures that are more inclined to evolutionary than revolutionary changes. What is the optimal pace of university development? Why do some universities develop rapidly while others try to resist changes?

The 8th International Conference on Higher Education Research organized by the Russian Association of Higher Education Researchers will be dedicated to the theme of the rapid development of universities. The Conference will be held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics that celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Keynote speeches, conference sessions, and discussions will be organized around the following themes:

  • New formats of higher education
  • Application  and effectiveness of new educational technologies (MOOC, LMS etc.)
  • The impact of university changes on the academic profession
  • Students’ perception of  changing university
  • New organizational forms, structures, and processes in universities
  • Agents of the accelerated development: who are they?
  • How does the Revolution change universities? (considered with regard of Soviet universities and the 100th anniversary of the 1917 Revolution)
  • Environment within and outside of universities: mutual penetration and impact
  • Big Data for university management: opportunities, ethics, best practices
  • New economy of universities
  • University races: Why do some higher education institutions outperform others?

The Program Committee also welcomes proposals in other areas of higher education studies.
