A VOLUME ON ETHNO-RELIGIOUSNESS

(to be published as a special issue of "Iran and the Caucasus", Brill, Leiden-Boston)

Ethno-religious groups, each being a unique phenomenon in terms of their doctrines, identities, Weltanschauungs, have been among both the most fascinating and least investigated areas of studies.

Their formation has always seemed an enigmatic process, many aspects of which remain absolutely concealed even when the emergence of a new ethno-religious identity can be analysed and even anticipated.

The planned volume will primarily focus on ethno-religious groups of broader Middle East ― Mandaeans, Druzes, Yezidis, etc.

We invite articles on any aspects of the field: history of the mentioned groups, the problem of their genesis (mythological and actual), religious syncretism, unique cultures, and last but not least―the issue of complex identities, modern transformations of identities, proselytism.

The articles will be published as a special issue of "Iran and the Caucasus", Brill, Leiden-Boston.

Please, submit your titles and short abstracts (200 words) before 1 July 2015.

Email: caucasoiranica@gmail.com (please, mention “ethno-religious” in the Subject  field)

Those whose abstracts are accepted will be provided with authors’ guidelines.

Deadline for paper submissions is 1 November 2015.
