Nikko Cosmetic Surgery Center has announced that it will offer two $1,000 scholarships annually for breast cancer survivors. The scholarships are aimed at assisting breast cancer survivors in the pursuit of their educational goals.
Breast cancer is the most common of all cancers among women. Overall, it is the second most common of all cancers worldwide. Last year, it is estimated that there were over 230,000 cases of invasive breast cancer. The Nikko scholarship program provides financial support to assist breast cancer survivors in pursuing their educational goals. We also hope that the program will call attention to the need for early diagnosis of breast cancer.
Scholarship Description:
Nikko Cosmetic Surgery Center is offering two annual scholarships* of $1,000 each. The funds will be paid in the form of tuition for attendance at an educational institution. The tuition can be for secondary or for post-secondary education, including college, trade school, and community college. You do not have to be attending school at this time to be eligible for a scholarship. Within a year after the award date, the winner must provide to Nikko Cosmetic Surgery Center a tuition invoice for the chosen school. A check will then be issued to the institution for $1,000.
Qualifications:
To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Deadline:
We must have your completed application, including all attachments, no later than September 30, 2016.
Required Materials:
- Tell us briefly (100 words or less) about your educational goals.
- (Optional) Write an original 650 to 1,000 word essay on the subject of how being diagnosed with breast cancer has affected your life.
- We may request documentation that you have been diagnosed with or treated for breast cancer.
Application process:
Complete the application, including upload(s), and indicate your agreement to the terms of the scholarship program.
The winners will be chosen, at least in part, based upon online activity generated by their application. That activity may, for example, be increased by the submission of a humorous or particularly heartfelt statement or essay. The decision in all cases will be made by Dr. Anthony Nikko at his sole discretion.
The announcement of the names of the winners will be made not later than October 31, 2016, and the notification to the winners will be by email.
