The TUM School of Medicine invites applications for a position as Associate Professor for »Tumormetabolism« to be appointed as soon as possible. The salary will consist of a base salary according to Bayerische Besoldungsgesetz (Bavarian Remuneration Act, pay-scale grade W3); candidates might be eligible for additional premiums. The professor will be part of the II. Medizinische Klinik at the University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.

We are looking for an excellent candidate with high potential who should have established an international recognized research agenda in the field of Tumormetabolism. The successful applicant is expected to perform cutting-edge research and to establish and to maintain a third-party funded research program on Gastrointestinal Oncology.

The Associate Professor position is a tenured position. There is the possibility of being promoted to a Full Professor (Chair Position). Promotion requires a Post-Tenure Performance Review, with a successful and positive reviewing period of at least 3 years after appointment as a TUM Associate Professor. Successful candidates have demonstrated pedagogical aptitude and are expected to contribute actively to the ongoing development of the university’s teaching program. Teaching assignments include courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments. Active participation in university boards and committees is expected.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree in medicine, a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, teaching skills at university level, and additional academic achievements(according to Art. 7 and Art. 10 BayHSchPG). Proof of possessing a medical license for internal medicine with a specialization in gastroenterology is required. Candidates for this position should be aged 51 or under at the time of appointment; exceptions to this rule might be possible. The ability to teach in English is a prerequisite for TUM Professors.
