Art, Science and Society programme

Each year the Art, Science & Society Programme  welcomes researchers and artists involved in experiments at the crossroads of art, research (humanities or exact and experimental science) and museography, with the purpose of fostering linkages between scientific practice and artistic creation so as to open new avenues of reflection and new forms in the fields of research and art.

The program focuses in particular on the following four areas:

  • The impact of digital integration on research and artistic creation: the idea is to reflect on productive perturbations generated by collaborations between humanities, exact and experimental science researchers and artists in the digital field, as well as the spin-off these may have in the fields of knowledge and creation.
  • Innovative writing at the crossroads of research and art: the aim will be to consider or explore innovative forms of writing inspired by literature, cinema, video games, or other artistic practices (visual art, movement art, net art, etc.) in human and social science research practice.
  • Digital publishing: the challenge consists in experimenting modes of editorial and graphic design that appropriate the potential of digital technology to rethink the reading experience and the primacy of text in relation to other media, namely image and sound.
  • Relationship between heritage and society. The aim is to query the relation to heritage as a critical space of invention that engages the richness and complexity of its relations with history and the diversity of cultural forms, through reflection on exhibition and promotion forms that contribute to its definition and collective re-ownership.
