ADMISSIONS & FINANCIAL AID FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Wabash College has a long tradition of welcoming international students to its campus. Because the cost of an American education may be prohibitively high, students are encouraged to first explore all options of financing their education from personal funds and outside sources before applying for aid from Wabash. All international students can qualify for Wabash International merit-based scholarships and in some cases need-based assistance.
Trustee International Scholarships
Merit-based scholarship awards covering total direct cost of four year attendance, including tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board are offered. Trustee scholarship awards are based on character, leadership and academic accomplishment as documented within the admissions application. Awards are renewable up to eight semesters and require satisfactory academic progress. All international students with a complete admissions application on record by February 15, 2016 will be reviewed for the Trustee Scholarship Awards.
Presidential International Scholarships
Merit-based scholarships ranging up to $25,000 per year are offered. All Presidential Scholarships are renewable up to eight semesters and require satisfactory academic progress. Presidential Scholarships are awarded based on the overall strength of an applicant's record as documented within the admissions application. Applicants whose families demonstrate the ability to cover cost unmet by Wabash financial assistance will be given additional consideration. Priority is given to students with a complete admissions file on record by January 15, 2016.
Need-Based Financial Aid
In addition to merit-based scholarships Wabash also awards a generous but limited number of Wabash institutional grants to high ability applicants demonstrating high or significant financial need. Wabash institutional grants are considered need-based financial aid. To be considered for need-based financial aid applicants must submit the College Board'sInternational Student Financial Aid Application and the College Board's International Student Certification of Finances form. Priority considerations for need-based financial aid is given to applicants with a complete record on file by February 1.
Students are expected to provide complete financial information so Wabash can best assess their financial needs. A typical financial aid package may consist of a combination of an offer of campus employment and Wabash grants in addition to any merit-based scholarships that may be awarded. International students must be aware that an aid award will not cover travel expenses, summer maintenance, and personal expenses.
To be given priority consideration for need-based or merit awards, we must receive ALL of the following before February 1:
- A completed application with signature
- An official copy of academic transcripts from the last 4 years of education, along with the Secondary School Report
- An optional essay demonstrating your ability to write well. If your SAT Critical Reading score is below 500 an essay might be required.
- Standardized test scores
- SAT or ACT (Required of all applicants. Official scores must come directly from

- TOEFL or IELTS (Required where English is not first language or medium of
instruction. Official scores must come directly from testing center.)

- All students must complete the College Board's International Student Certification of Finances. Applicants applying for need-based financial aid must also submit College Board's International Student Financial Aid Application.
- If you do not wish to apply for financial aid, you must still complete the College Board's International Student Certification of Finances.
- All of the above documents must be on record before an application is considered complete for review.
In order to be considered by admission and financial assistance, all applicants must be able to document the ability to provide for expenses not covered by even our best awards.

Wabash Internships and Student Employment (WISE)
A form of financial aid, this employment is awarded based upon need. The student will receive a bi-weekly paycheck when he works and this assistance is generally used to cover a portion of the student's personal educational expenses. Recipients of this award will receive an information packet about the employment program in early summer. Depending on need, students may be eligible (however, this is not guaranteed) for $3,000 of Wabash Internships and Student Employment. This money is received only as a student works, is not allocated in one lump sum, and CANNOT alone fund the student's education or pay the majority of his expenses.
