7th International Reggae Poster Contest
Main theme of the Contest: “Toward a Reggae Hall of Fame: Celebrating Great Jamaican Music”.
This year’s theme is “Reggae Music: Messages from Jamaica to the World”.
In the world of design and the arts, there are many poster competitions. Some focus on music, such as jazz and rock; and others on social awareness. But there is only one competition worldwide on reggae music. One of the reasons this music has spread across the globe is because reggae speaks to our heart and our mind about a wide range of social and political issues. For this 7th contest, we would like entries to focus on the messages that reggae and all the other genres of Jamaican popular music are spreading globally. We are looking for creative visual expressions that capture those issues and showcasing them through the energy and the vibe of Jamaican culture, at home and internationally.
OBJECTIVE: The objective of the International Reggae Poster Contest is to build awareness for positive reggae music and to celebrate the global achievements of reggae and its impact on the world. The term reggae, as used by the contest, encompasses all the popular Jamaican musical genres; ska, rocksteady, roots reggae, dub, dancehall and the unique Jamaican soundsystem.
ELIGIBILITY: The International Reggae Poster Contest is open to all graphic designers and artists internationally. Artists/Designers are allowed to submit any number of original poster Entries. Posters should not have been published on internet, social medias etc.
RIGHTS GRANTED: Artists/Designers will retainall rights to their original posters art. The International Reggae Poster Contest shall have the right to reproduce and distribute to third parties a limited edition (fewer than 150 copies) poster copy of each winning entry in a format of 50cm x 70cm. The International Reggae Poster Contest shall have the right to reproduce and distribute to third parties the posters in the International Reggae Poster Contest catalogue/book in unlimited quantities and also for exhibition proposes.
Rules and RegulationsParticipation in the 7th International Reggae Poster Contest 2020 (IRPC) constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Intl. Reggae Poster Contest, which are final and binding. Winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein in a timely manner.
ENTRY PERIOD: The ENTRY PERIOD of the 7th International Reggae Poster Contest 2020 begins on November 1, 2019 (12am EST time) and closes on March 1, 2020 (12am EST time).
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CONTESTANT: You are only allowed to submit original unpublished works to the Reggae poster contest. Also, do NOT publish your submitted poster art on Facebook or other social media until after the winners are announced.
