Call for Applications

The T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung or MPIB) and the Institute of Psychology (IP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is organizing the fourth Winter School on Bounded Rationality in Manipal (Karnataka), India. The aim of the Winter School is to foster participants’ understanding of the processes underlying human decision making, and to apply this knowledge to the real world, enabling people to make better decisions under uncertainty and complexity. To this end, the School offers a unique forum for decision-making scholars from various disciplines to share their approaches, discuss their research, and inspire one another.

KEYNOTE ADDRESSES

Ralph Hertwig

Director of the Adaptive Rationality Center at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin.

Shyam Sunder

James L. Frank Professor of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at the Yale School of Management and Professor in the Department of Economics.

TOPICS

The winter school shall focus on a diverse set of topics:

  • Bounded Rationality and Ecological Rationality
  • Fast and Frugal Heuristics
  • Nudges and Boosts
  • Behavioural Decision-Making in Finance
  • Risk Literacy
  • Medical Decision-Making

Seminars, talks, panel discussions, workshops, poster sessions, and social events will take place, allowing participants to learn and develop new ideas in broad areas of Judgment and Decision Making, facilitated by frequent interactions with the teaching faculty members and practitioners of behavioural sciences.

Deadline for Application is October 05, 2019

Registration for the course is free. Accommodation and travel expenses will be partly reimbursed for full-time PhD scholars.
