The Fourth European Convention on Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies will be held in Mainz from September 16 to 18, 2020. 

The conference is organized by the Society for Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies (GTOT) in co-operation with the Chair of Turcology of Johannes Gutenberg University.

The Fourth European Convention on Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies will be held in Mainz from September 16 to 18, 2020. 

The conference is organized by the Society for Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies (GTOT) in co-operation with the Chair of Turcology of Johannes Gutenberg University. 

We are inviting proposals for papers in the domains of language, literature, history, culture, society, politics, and philology of the Turks and the Turkic peoples. Conference languages are English, German, and Turkish. 

Every paper will be allotted 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes discussion. Paper proposals should be submitted by e-mail using the abstract form which you find here: <abstract paper.docx> and include an abstract of 250 words, three to five key words, and two to five references. 

Panel applications comprising 3–4 papers are welcome as well. Panel applicationsshould be submitted using this form: <abstract panel.docx> and include an overall description of the proposed panel as well as individual paper abstracts. The panel language should also be indicated.

The deadline for the submission of paper and panel proposals is February 15, 2020. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by expert reviewers who decide whether or not the paper is accepted to the conference. Applicants will be notified of the results of the review by April 15, 2020. Participants will be allowed to present one paper each. Participants will be expected to present their paper in situ.
