Join us for Frankfurt Summer School and make summer 2019 your summer of knowledge!

Please note that you need to have sufficient English language skills to follow the academic courses.

The Summer School is organised by Goethe University and supported by the City of Frankfurt, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research..

Seminars

In the morning, you attend academic, modularised seminars on current topics of your chosen track. By successfully completing these seminars of 50 contact hours you get 8 ECTS in total (4 ECTS points for module 1, 4 ECTS points for module 2). Each module concludes with one exam.

All seminars are held in English. We do not require any certificate, that proofs your knowledge of English, but please note that you need to have sufficient English language skills to follow the academic seminars.

Please note that the Gender Studies and Social Sciences track are independent from each other. You can register for one or two tracks.

Please be aware that you can only book the optional German course for a duration of four weeks, i.e. if you register for both tracks.

German courses

You can participate in optional German language courses on different levels (30 contact hours and 3 ECTS points upon completion). Beginners and advanced learners (A1 – B1) can become acquainted with the German language or improve their skills in small groups to guarantee optimal learning conditions and fast progress. Please note that there will be an online test prior to the Summer School in order to make sure that you take part in a course suitable for your level.

Credits

According to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), participants get the opportunity of gaining credit points for the seminars as well as for the German language courses. Students, who are not enrolled at one of the Strategic Partner Universities, need to inquire at their home university, if the credit points gained at Frankfurt Summer School will be accepted for their programme of study. Please note that gaining credit points for the seminars and German language courses requires participation on a regular basis (minimum attendance rate: 80% of the total course hours).
