Call for Applications for a Student Congress at KU Leuven

“Joined knowledge, joined strength” 4 th to 6 th April 2019 in Leuven, Belgium

The UNA Europa university alliance is an innovative consortium composed of seven leading universities from six countries – Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Poland – all firmly rooted in Europe’s intellectual and cultural history. They share a deep understanding of and commitment to European values of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights. Being a young alliance, created in 2018, UNA Europa encourages engagement and networking on different levels within the participating universities. Following this principle, Freie Universität Berlin supports a student congress that is going to take place at KU Leuven in April 2019. The congress aims to organize a Model University, simulating scenarios in higher education policy-making. The main goal is to establish a new networking format and, in that way, exchange more knowledge and experience among the participating students of UNA Europa member universities. Questions to be addressed during the congress are for example, how does education work in different European countries and how are the differences explained? What are the processes behind educational policy-making and how are students able to participate? What impact do higher education and research have on societal challenges? The congress has a format similar to Model United Nations; the discussion of politics and education will take place in the form of a Model University. The student congress is organized by the Studentenraad of KU Leuven.
