Scholarships for a Masters Degree Programme at Sapienza University

Twenty-four two-year “Don’t Miss Your Chance” scholarships (€4300 gross/year) are available for students enrolling in a Masters Degree Programme at Sapienza University for the academic year 2018-19.

Subject and amount of the scholarship

A competition based on assessment of qualifications called “Don’t miss your chance” is open, to award 24 two years duration scholarships of the amount of € 4.300,00 for each year (before taxes chargeable to students are paid and net of taxes chargeable to the University) to EU (Italian citizens excluded) and non-EU graduates.The winners will be exempted from paying the whole amount for tuition fees but they will have to pay a single contribution of € 30,00 each year. The scholarship will be allocated in two payment installments as follows: 

  • The first installment after the actual enrolment of the successful student in a degree programme at Sapienza. in the academic year 2018-19, in accordance with the enrolment deadline prescribed in the call for applications of the master degree programme and provided that the student holds a Visa for study purposes.   • The second instalment is awarded only if the student still holds a visa for study purposes and if he/she achieves, within the 2018-2019 academic year, all the credits (ECTS/CFU) indicated in his/her first year study programme and enrols, within the deadline prescribed in the degree programme Manifesto (“Manifesto degli studi” in force. https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/regolamento-studenti). For the purposes of the achievement of the credits prescribed by the degree programme Manifesto (Manifesto degli studi) for the first year, the exams that will be considered are the exams that have been taken until the last session available for the 2018-2019 academic year. Students who obtain the second installment of the scholarships are also exempt from paying second-year tuition fees. 

Application requirements

In order apply for the competition candidates, as essential eliminatory criteria, must satisfy the requirements below, within the call for applications closing date:

  • a University degree or an equivalent qualification earned at a University abroad that allows enrolment in a master degree programme;
  •  EU (Italian citizenship excluded) or non-EU citizenship;
  • being no older than 26 (this admission requirement is intended as follows: after midnight of the day of his/her 26th birthday the candidate starts his/her 27th year of life, that means he/she overcomes the age limit prescribed above); on no account, not even for other purposes, will the age limit prescribed by the law in force be raised.  

Application

The application for the competition must be submitted only with the on-line form available at the following web page:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAnvOtJCvMsDrQycwQmsmswdWjPSWpSBhaYcfh3mySasyBA/viewform The application form must be submitted strictly within the 11th june 2018, candidates who fail to submit their application within the prescribed deadline will be disqualified. Candidates must fill in the form online entering the data listed below, candidates who fail to do so will be disqualified:

  • name and surname;
  • date and place of birth;
  • e-mail address;
  • degree;
  • graduation date;
  • final mark;
  • The highest existing final mark in the Country where the qualification has been earned. The candidate must specify if the mark achieved consists of a numeric score (e.g. 4/4, 10/10, 100% etc…) or of a narrative grading (e.g. first class with distinction, first division, excellent etc.)   

Applicants must also enclose, all in one pdf file, a scan of the documents below, candidates who fail to do so will be disqualified: 

  • certificate of the obtained degree
  • certificate of equivalence of qualification, if available
  • valid identification document with information about the name, surname, place of birth and citizenship.  

The Administration is not liable for the ineffectiveness of communications due to the applicant providing an incorrect e-mail address or informing with the delay or not informing at all of any changes in the email address. The Administration carries out appropriate controls to verify the documents submitted are authentic, without having to inform the applicant about this measure, when, due to the particular need of celebrity, the administration is unable to specifically inform the applicant. If upon verification measures the documents submitted prove to be false, the applicant will lose any benefit achieved based on untruthful statements, and he/she will have to give back any amount he/she has been given.

Applications assessment

The examination board will be appointed by Rectoral Decree and it will consist of three members. The examination board will draw up a list of candidates, following the criteria below: 

  • graduation final mark;
  • in case of equal mark, the younger candidate shall prevail. 

If the graduation final mark is not a numeric score, the final mark will be transformed in the corresponding numeric value. The examination board will draw up the list of candidates’ scores in descending order. The judgment expressed by the examination board is unquestionable. In the case of withdrawal or scholarship revocation of candidates previously awarded, subsequent candidates in the ranking will be awarded until there are available places. The ranking will be published on the following web page: https://web.uniroma1.it/trasparenza/dettaglio_bando_albo/107401 within the18 th June 2018. Within ten days from the publication, motions for revision of the ranking may be submitted, after the ten-day time limit no other motions for revision will be accepted and the ranking will be considered as the final ranking, without prejudice to any subsequent changes due to successful candidates who not enrolling in Sapienza University degree programmes. 

Personal data

Candidates will receive any communication related to the competition at the e-mail address they gave in the application form. The “Diritto allo studio” Office will get in touch via e-mail with successful candidates to obtainthe necessary data to credit the scholarship (Iban, visa for study purposes and tax identification number). In accordance with the regulations referred to in the Decree 30 June 2003, No. 196 Personal Data Protection Code containing regulations about the protection of people and other subjects’ personal data processing, we hereby enclose the proper information notice.
