Kraków Intellectual Property Law Summer School

The Jagiellonian University invites undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate (PhD) law students as well as young professionals to the Kraków Intellectual Property Law Summer School 2018. The programme will take place from September 17 to 22, 2018. The programme will be conducted in English.

About the Summer School

The one-week programme is offered by the Intellectual Property Law Chair of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Jagiellonian University is one of Europe’s oldest universities (founded in 1364).

The programme of the Kraków Intellectual Property Law Summer School 2018 will consist of lectures of the keynote speakers and guest lecturers, as well as workshops, case studies, group discussions on selected topics relating to IPR limitations, exceptions, infringements. The programme will be available shortly.

Kraków

Kraków is the most visited Polish city with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, vivid cultural and academic life and a lot of historical must-see places. It is a vibrant city with a thriving coffee culture, many jazz clubs, live music venues and cultural events. Kraków city centre is a delight to explore on foot. The Summer School venue is just a short walk from the city’s medieval Market Square (Rynek Główny) and old buildings of Jagiellonian University to the Royal Wawel Castle (Polish renaissance royal castle) and even to the ancient Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz) where you may find the heart of Kraków's bohemian character.

Due to a limited number of participants, you are recommended to submit your application early in order to secure a place in the Summer School. Applications will be considered on a “rolling basis”, starting from early May, in the order in which they are submitted.

Registration and Fees

Applications must be submitted by e-mail to ipsummer@uj.edu.pl. Successful applicants will be notified by the Organizing Committee and receive a formal offer of admission containing information about registration and payment process.

The deadline for registration is 31 July 2018. If you are already accepted and registered participant, please log into the system. Special prices are offered for early birds! Please apply until 28 May to get reduced fee.

The course fee covers

  • participation in the full course,
  • materials (either as an electronic access or handouts),
  • coffee breaks during the sessions,
  • opening lunch on Monday (17 September)
  • welcome reception on Monday (17 September)
  • visit in the University Museum located in the oldest building Collegium Maius.

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Kraków, accommodation, insurance and living expenses during their participation in the programme. Lunch will be available in the University canteen, approximately 3-4 EUR per meal.

Note: The course fee is specified in Polish zlotys (PLN) in the registration system. This is the internal requirement of the Jagiellonian University. For your convenience please find below the approximate amount of the registration fees in Euro determined on the basis of the current (April 2018, see exchange rates) average currency exchange rate determined by the National Bank of Poland and it cannot be warranted that the same exchange rate will be binding on the day of your payment. The registration fees do not include any possible charges that are independent from the conference organizers, such as international transfer charges etc.

Available methods of payment of the registration fee:

  • Credit card (on-line payment) After logging into the registration system click Pay on-line link. Tick the amount of registration fee and click Pay on-line button. There will be automatic transfer to the payment system (Polcard).
  • Bank transfer After logging in to the registration system click Edit registration fees link. Choose Payments and invoices tab. You will find there bank transfer data. Bank transfer title should include the name of the participant and the name of the school (IP Summer School)

Accommodation

A preliminary accommodation booking has been made for you in Piast Student Hotel. In order to make the hotel reservation, please contact the hotel directly (until the indicated deadline). While asking for a room availability, please give the conference code: SUMMER SCHOOL 2018.

Visa

In case you need a visa support letter to attend the programme, the Summer School Secretariat will send you a letter upon request. The Congress Secretariat is only able to send you a visa support letter after receipt of your registration and payment. Please contact: ipsummer@uj.edu.pl and include your name, date of birth, affiliation, and address in the email.

As a member of the European Union Poland is part of the Schengen Area, a zone without controls on internal borders which comprises of 28 countries. Please check the list of countries whose nationals may enter Poland without a visa (visa free countries)
