The American Councils for International Education has announced the launch of two grant programs funded by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to assist past participants of its Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX). The FLEX Alumni Grant Program offers previous program participants the opportunity to initiate social, economic, and civic development projects of their own design in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and the states of Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
In addition, ACIE is offering Global Youth Service Day matching grants of up to $500 to FLEX alumni working to implement local community service projects as part of Global Youth Service Day, April 26-28, 2013. To be eligible for a grant, FLEX alumni must conduct local fundraising efforts to secure contributions from other donors. If an applicant’s project is chosen for funding, those funds must be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis to complete the project. Deadline: February 25, 2013.
