Winter School in Oral History

The Winter School in Oral History introduces students to the cutting edge research that is going on in the area. Students will be introduced to the practical impact of new media and technology on oral history and story telling. Through hands-on workshops students will be introduced to concepts of data mining, indexing, annotating, and the steps involved in working online with new media. Apart from introducing students to the contemporary theoretical breakthrough in understanding form and meaning, the Winter School also introduces students to cutting-edge modern technologies. With a faculty drawn from across the world, the course aims to set standards in the field through discussions on methodology, archiving standards, ethical issues, and forms of dissemination.

The faculty includes eminent oral historians from India and abroad who will present latest research approaches through examples from their own work. There will also be mentoring sessions for students who will have the opportunity to discuss their projects with the faculty. Students will be expected to make presentations at the end of the Winter School.
