BACKGROUND

Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative Summer School for Junior Anti Corruption Professionals in South East Europe was originally initiated in 2005 as a way to build and strengthen capacities of anti-corruption bodies in the region and to provide a platform for young practitioners to learn new practices and to exchange experiences. The School was subsequently launched in 2006 as a forum for exchange of ideas and practices among young judges, prosecutors and investigators.

Organization of the Summer School 2017 is envisaged by RAI Working Plan (2016-2017), and it is in line with the commitment set up in the RAI Strategic Document, particularly aimed to strengthen investigative capacities of criminal justice institutions by fostering interagency cooperation and joint investigations, focusing on financial investigations. The Summer School gathers junior professionals and gives them an opportunity to learn new practices and best practices from the region. It is a ground for developing and fostering relationships with peers. The 2017 Summer School edition will be organized in cooperation with the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland.

Objective of Summer School complements implementation of Article 60. (Training and Technical Assistance) of UNCAC. It tackles also one of the key Strategic directions and subsequent strategic action in Dimension O -”Anti Corruption“, under the Pillar Governance for Growth of the SEE 2020 Strategy and this is: “Build capacity of law enforcement agencies and judiciary and improve their regional cooperation and data exchange (including mutual legal assistance in corruption cases)”.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL

General objective of the Summer School is to provide a platform for young practitioners to learn new practices and to exchange experiences. There are number of objectives geared towards general objective:

● Transfer new knowledge and innovative approaches by choosing high quality topics and trainers,

● Build junior professionals capacity and therefore add capacity of their respective institutions,

● Enable networking and build regional relationships – consolidating regional cooperation.
