June 21-23, 2019
The D. Kim Foundation for the History of Science and Technology in East Asia, together with the Program in History and Philosophy of Science, Seoul National University, is pleased to announce a summer workshop for younger scholars to be held June 21-23, 2019 at the Hoam Faculty House of Seoul National University, in Seoul, South Korea.
The primary aims of the workshop are twofold. The first is to promote transnational exchange and collaboration in the history of science and technology in modern East Asia by bringing together 12-15 graduate students and recent PhDs for several days of lively and convivial exchange. The second is to help these younger scholars to hone their presentation skills, so that they can communicate their research crisply and compellingly.
The younger scholars will be mentored by an international group of senior academics who will offer both general training in techniques of effective presentation and specific feedback on individual projects, and who will introduce as well noteworthy trends and resources in the study of science and technology in modern East Asia.
The entire workshop will be conducted in English. The workshop organizers will cover the costs of transportation for participants and also arrange for lodgings and meals during the workshop.
