The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a  

Junior Professor (W1 with Tenure Track) of Flavor Chemistry at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the subject of flavor chemistry in research and teaching, thereby strengthening the food scientific profile of the University. The candidate is expected to possess excellent research qualifications in the subject of flavor chemistry. Central topics concerning odorants and flavoring substances ought to be worked on by employing adequate methodology. A research focus shall be on non-alcoholic beverages. We expect eagerness for interdisciplinary collaboration. The technical center equipped with pilot plants may be used.

Teaching obligations comprise teaching the subject area of aroma compounds and flavoring substances in the food scientific Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. At the beginning, the teaching load will comprise four contact hours per week and will be increased to six contact hours per week after a successful interim evaluation.

The requirements for an appointment are a completed university degree, pedagogical suitability and an outstanding doctorate.

The appointment will be a temporary civil service position for four years. After a positive interim evaluation, the employment relationship will be extended for another two years. After six years, building on the position in question and after a positive interim evaluation, the applicant may be appointed for a W3-position based on a quality assurance concept to be proposed by the University. The appointment for a W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and through an appropriate simplified appointment process.
