About the fellowship 

The initial tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)). Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent position at a higher level (W2).

The successful candidate will be responsible for research and teaching in the area of French and Spanish Linguistics. He/She will have a research focus in at least one of the following domains: Syntax, Phonology, Morphology, Semantics, with respect to the study of Romance languages. She/He will be expected to cover the fields of theoretical linguistics and empirical research in Spanish as well as French linguistics.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to common research initiatives in- and outside the faculty. She/He will engage in the education programs for teachers of French and Spanish as well in the bachelor and master courses at the department of Romance languages and literatures. The candidate will participate in the development of new study programmes of the department.
The successful candidate will also be involved in teacher-training. Experience in teaching at school and novel ideas regarding this topic would be welcome.
The candidate holds an excellent PhD in Romance linguistics and has a particular competence in scientific research. According to § 64 HHG persons that obtained their PhD at Goethe University Frankfurt are not eligible to the position. The doctorate should not date back to more than four years and should be complemented by further scientific achievements.
