Facebook is seeking an engineering Intern to join our Sourcing and Operations Engineering team. Our datacenters (OCP), connectivity labs (internet.org), and mobile (telecominfraproject.com) programs are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and how Facebook connects the world. The intern will work closely with our hardware design, validation, supply chain, and contract manufacturing teams to design automation, analyze data, and enable products to scale. This position is located in our Menlo Park office.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with hardware, validation, and software engineers to understand system architecture. 
  • Drive manufacturing partners to build, test, and deliver quality hardware. 
  • Analyze quality data, test methodologies, and assembly processes. Develop and publish analytics reports and communicate findings to team members. 
  • Help to create electrical and/or mechanical fixtures to enable the design teams and manufacturing partners in assembling and test products.
  • Diagnose and root cause component failures.

Minimum Qualification

  • A BS or MS in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering.
  • Familiar with manufacturing of sheet metal, plastics, cables, and/or PCBAs a plus.
  • Experience in data analysis and familiarity with tools such as JMP or MiniTab.
  • Experience working on manufacturing builds at a factory and driving efficiency into processes. 
  • Familiar with managing vendors and suppliers. 
  • Strong trouble shooting and analytic skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Experience working with Linux and object oriented programming is a strong plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States in 2017.
