Information on the Founder Type Design Competition
The Founder Type Design Competition has been held seven occasions successfully since June in 2001. Each occasion made by experts in design field, type designers, and amateurs on type design and calligraphy. Through 10-year accumulated efforts, Founder Type Design Competition gained high acclaim in Chinese type design.

Purposes of the Competition
- Carry forward Chinese traditional character culture;
- Promote type design innovation;
- Find excellent talents in type design;
- Promote development of font design field
Entry Guideline
1.The competition is open to any individual, group or nationality.
2.Participants must be originators or instructors of entries.
3.The entries that have been awarded prizes and/or received distinctions in any other competitions are not eligible for entry. Any work previously published or released typefaces are not eligible for entry.
Design Format
- The Eighth Founder Type Design Competition - Chinese Typeface for Title and Text）
Requirements:
Typeface should be suitable for title and text of books, newspaper, magazines and screens
Typeface Examples:
(Total 55 characters with 53 characters and 2 punctuation marks)
Rules of the Competition
1.All works, created after February 2014 may be submitted to the competition. Works that have been transformed or shadowed on existing fonts or computer fonts will not be accepted.
2.Works shall be black-and –white images. Grey and color images will not be accepted.
3.To ensure impartial review, entries shall not have any word or mark besides contents.
4.Please design Chinese characters with simplified strokes for “typesetting type” and “creative type”. Traditional Chinese characters are not accepted.
5.Entry words such as “Typesetting Type Design” and “Creative Type Design” should be written or output in the square box (50mmX 50MM) with total five pages for each 12 characters. Participants should display one page of entry words with horizontal and vertical typesetting. 6.Entry words of “Latin Type Design” should be written or output in the box. In addition, entry words should display typesetting with different font sizes for designated texts. Detailed information can refer to Entry Template-Latin Type Design.
7.Entry Template can be downloaded in the page of “template download” in the official website （www.foundertype.com/ztds/8th/）.

The second prize: two winners, award: RMB 10000 and award certificate
The second prize: two winners, award: RMB 5000 and award certificate
