Artist-in-Residence (A.I.R.) Program

Dancewave's Artist-in-Residence (A.I.R.) program is committed to facilitating the growth and creation of new choreographic works by emerging dance artists based in the greater New York City area. Dancewave seeks artists with a track record of producing creative work and professional teaching experience. Midway through their residency, Dancewave A.I.R.s lead two Master Classes for adults and youth.

This 6-week residency is designed to support emerging artists as they make a significant step forward in their choreographic research. As part of their residency, Dancewave A.I.R.s have the unique opportunity to produce their own final showing performance and use the Dancewave Center as a community-building platform.

Dancewave's Spring 2020 A.I.R. application is open through Wednesday, November 27 at 12:00pm. Recipients will be announced no later than January 15, 2020.

To be considered, applicants must be available for all of the dates below from at least one of the following Residencies:

Residency #1 (February 10 - March 21, 2020)
Adult Master Class: Sunday 3/1; Youth Master Class: Tuesday 3/10; and Performance Saturday 3/21

Residency #2 (March 16 - April 25, 2020)
Adult Master Class: Sunday 3/29, Youth Master Class: Tuesday 4/7, and Performance Saturday 4/25

Through the A.I.R. program, selected artists will be provided with the following:
-60 hours of free rehearsal space
-Stipend to support the Artist & Collaborators involved (expenditure report required at the completion of the program)
-Performance opportunity to present their new work developed at Dancewave, accompanied by feedback session
