Innovational Research Incentives Scheme Veni
Innovational Research Incentives Scheme Veni is a grant for researchers who have recently obtained their PhD.
Purpose
Veni is part of the Incentives Scheme. It allows researchers who have recently obtained their PhD to conduct independent research and develop their ideas for a period of three years.
Who can apply
Veni is targeted at outstanding researchers who have recently obtained their PhD. They are at the start of their scientific career and display a striking talent for scientific research. Veni applicants must have obtained their doctorate within the last three years. The 2019 Veni round is open to researchers who meet this criterion on 1 January 2019.
NWO will ask candidates for an 'embedding guarantee' from the start of the new application round for Veni funding (call 2019). Researchers can only submit applications for Veni funding with the support of the Dutch institution where they intend to conduct their research. More information about the Veni- embedding guarantee is now available:
Embedding guarantee for Veni call 2019
NWO will ask candidates for an 'embedding guarantee' from the start of the new application round for Veni funding (call 2019). Researchers can only submit applications for Veni funding with the support of the Dutch institution where they intend to conduct their research. It is expected to lead to fewer applications and to be more consistent with the research institutions’ personnel policy.
Starting from the 2018 application round for Veni funding, NWO is asking candidates for an “embedding guarantee”. This means that researchers can only submit applications for Veni funding with the support of the institution where they intend to conduct their research.
Choice of institution
Candidates are free to choose the institution in which they plan to conduct their research. The embedding within the institution should be arranged by signing this form before submitting the application (or pre-proposal) to NWO.
Coordination
In all cases and before submission of the Veni application, the embedding of the proposed research must be coordinated in a discussion between the candidate and the intended supervisor at the hosting institution.
