21st Biennial Conference on Balkan and South Slavic Linguistics, Literature and Folklore

The series of conferences on Balkan and South Slavic Linguistics, Literature, and Folklore was initiated in 1978 by a small group of Balkan linguists at the University of Chicago. A conference has been held every two years since then: University of Chicago (1978, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996), Indiana University Bloomington (1982, 1986, 1994), University of Toronto (1990), University of Arizona, Tucson (1998), University of Kansas (2000), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2002), University of Mississippi (2004), University of California, Berkeley (2006), Banff, Canada (2008), Ohio State University, Columbus (2010), University of Washington, Seattle (2012), University of Chicago (2014) and University of Utah, Salt Lake City (2016).

The 21st conference in this series will be the very first time that the Montana State University Billings and Billings will serve as host for this event.

Call for Papers

The 21st Biennial Conference on Balkan and South Slavic Linguistics, Literature and Folklore will take place from May 24-26, 2018 at Montana State University Billings, in Billings, Montana, USA. Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, November 15, 2017. Acceptance Notification Date:  15 January 2018. The conference organizers are now accepting proposals for papers that treat some aspect of Balkan and/or South Slavic linguistics, literature, folklore, or culture. Abstracts should be maximum one page, including examples and bibliography, 12-point font, at least 1" margins, and should not contain name(s) or affiliations(s) of the author(s). Abstracts should be submitted as an email attachment in PDF format to the conference organizer, Elena Petroska, at the conference email address (bssc2018 @msubillings.edu). The paper title, author name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information should be given in the body of the email. The abstract itself should have only the title.
