The competition organizers have unlimited rights to broadcast and record, videotape, televise, film or photograph during the competition events and concerts and to make audio or visual recordings from the competition, without any payment at all, to the competitors or prize-winners or pianists. All the competition events will be open for the audience. The audience must observe all instructions, announced at the beginning of each competition event. Applause, or other reactions, are only permitted after the competitors’ complete programme. The original language used in these rules, are Swedish. Any disagreements will be decided by reference to the original Swedish text. Competitors, eliminated in the first and the second round will be given an opportunity to discuss their results with members of the Jury. Every competitor will be responsible and pay for his/her own travelling costs. The finalists will afterwards be paid for the travelling expenses up to max. 5,000 SEK. Receipt must be provided.
General Rules
1) The competition is open to singers of all nationalities women, born after June 1, 1983 men, born after June 1, 1981
2) Applicants for the competition, undertake to abide by the competition rules, the regulations on performance and the decisions of the Jury.
3) The application must be sent to WSIMC before 15 February 2016.
Application Procedure
The applicants must use the official application form in the WSIMC website: www.stenhammarcompetition.se The completed application form must be sent on-line. The other enclosures can either be sent separately by e-mail to stenhammarcompetition@norrkoping.se or by mail to Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition Box 2154 SE-600 02 Norrköping SWEDEN The application form and the enclosures must arrive before 15 February 2016
The following enclosures must be submitted for the application to be considered and approved:
A) One recent recording – max.10 min. including one opera aria and one song/lied with piano accompaniment in two different languages
B) Curriculum Vitae (CV) with the following: institutes and schools of higher – or specialist education, dates of diplomas, most important public appearances (date and place) any previous awards in international competitions.
C) One copy of an official identity card or passport
D) Two recent photos of good quality (Type of file .jpg or .png, size max. 5MB)
E) Paid fee for application, 120 Euro, makes the application valid. The fee is paid through Credit Card or PayPal before sending application.
The application form and the enclosures will not be returned and the application fee will not be repaid. If the number of participants must be restricted, a “pre-jury” will choose, on basis of the received application, documentation and CD. Before 1st March 2016, WSIMC office will inform all candidates, if they are accepted to participate in the WSIMC 2016. The score for the obligatory repertory by Wilhelm Stenhammar can be ordered from: music@tfront.com. Some of the Stenhammar songs can be provided from the WSIMC homepage www.stenhammarcompetition.se under Competition 2016. Amendments of the repertoire, stated by the applicant, can be accepted up to 1st May 2016 and only by using the inlog, received at the application.
WSIMC will provide a professional accompanist. Each competitor is entitled to one rehearsal before the first round and one rehearsal before the second round. The finalists will be entitled to one orchestral rehearsal the day before the final concert. Any additional rehearsals must be arranged and paid for, by the competitor. Each competitor is allowed to bring a pianist of his/her own but on own expenses.
Prizes
First prize: 100,000 SEK Second prize: 60,000 SEK Third prize: 40,000 SEK Fourth prize: 20,000 SEK Audience’s prize: 20,000 SEK Mozart Prize: 10,000 SEK
According to Swedish fiscal legislation, 15% tax will be deducted from the prize. Stenhammar Prize: 10,000 SEK for the best interpretation of Wilhelm Stenhammar songs, given by Cecilia Stenhammar. The prize-giving ceremony will be held after the final concert and after the jury meeting. Each prize-winner must be present to receive his/her prize in person
