The We Art Water Film Festival is an international short-film competition organised by the We Are Water Foundation. The aim is to raise awareness and generate notoriety about the world’s water problem.
The We Art Water Film Festival is an international short film festival, organised by the We Are Water Foundation, which aims to recognise and reward the talent of those people with a clear awareness of the water problem in the world and who also know how to express it in their productions. Its primary goal is to raise awareness of the water problem around the world by means of the creation of audiovisual pieces that address this issue.
After the success of the first and second editions, the Foundation has launched the third edition of the We Art Water Film Festival, whose presentation has taken place at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The registration and short film presentation period will be open from the 2nd October to the 26th February 2016. The jury will select the finalists during the month of March and from the 21st March to the 15th April the spectators will be able to vote their favourite short film through Facebook and the webpage of the contest.
The winners will be announced on May 2016 during the awards presentation ceremony that takes place in the emblematic space of the Roca Madrid Gallery. 2,200 participants from around the world took part in the second edition of the We Art Water Film Festival. The short films came from countries such as Colombia, United Kingdom, Spain, India, Venezuela, Argentina, Bulgaria, Peru and Mexico, as well as Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil or Canada, among others.
As in the first and second editions, the finalist pieces of the contest will be spread through different platforms, such as the webpage and the social networks, or they will be screened at the Roca Gallery spaces in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Shanghai and London.
The Theme: “Water and Sanitation”
All pieces need to be related to the theme: Water and sanitation. in the form of 1 to 3 minutes long videos, creating original fiction and non-fiction works.
Rules and conditions
There are three categories in the short film contest:
- Micro-documentary
- Micro-fiction
- Micro-animation
Prizes
• Micro-documentary: 3,000 €
• Micro-fiction: 3,000 €
• Micro-animation: 3,000 €
• Audience Award: 1,000 €
Requirements
- Adress the theme related to access to water and sanitation and its relation with the hygiene, pollution, agriculture, disease, food, education, etc
- Last between one and three minutes
- Audio or texts that form part of the works must be in English or subtitled in English
- They must start and end with the official billboards: beginning and ending
- Must be submitted between 2 October 2015 and 26 February 2016
