About  Global Issues Press Fellowship

The United Nations Foundation today announced that it will host its sixth annual reporting fellowship in New York, to coincide with the UN General Assembly, the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, and the 2015 Social Good Summit. The fellowship will provide journalists with the latest information on pressing global development issues, giving them the ability to hear directly from top UN, government, and business leaders, and unparalleled access to experts and activists on climate, equality, and global health.

This 4-day fellowship, held September 26-29, will have a special focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and climate change. It will also include access to the 2015 Social Good Summit, during which fellows will have the opportunity to interact with heads of state, business leaders, global development experts, and celebrities dedicated to development-related causes.

“This September is an incredibly important moment as world leaders come together at the UN to adopt new global goals to end extreme poverty, improve health and wellbeing, and protect our planet by 2030,” said Aaron Sherinian, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at the UN Foundation. “This fellowship offers the unique chance for journalists to gain perspective and hear from experts on the issues included in the Sustainable Development Goals—issues that are shaping a new vision for the future and will continue to shape our world over the next 15 years.”

With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the fellowship is designed to foster participants’ understanding and facilitate reporting of the issues surrounding international development, climate change and global health. Fellows will participate in on- and off-the-record issue briefings, roundtables, and conversations with experts and high-level officials.

This fellowship is intended for reporters who do not have regular access to key UN experts, but are interested in global issues, climate change, international development, and the United Nations. Special consideration will be given to journalists whose portfolios include climate change or foreign affairs.
