LOYOLA INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIPS
Undergraduate Scholarship
The Loyola Institute is pleased to announce a new scholarship for 2017/2018 which consists of a payment of €6,500 per year and payment of the student contribution.
To be eligible students will:
- Have sat either Leaving Certificate or A levels in 2016 or 2017.
- Been offered a place to study the BA Moderatorship in Catholic Theological Studies (CAO: TR030) (Note: The 2 subject moderatorship TSM is not applicable for this scholarship).
- Have a minimum of 430 points
- Be ordinarily resident in Ireland or Northern Ireland and are EU applicants.
The final decision on the scholarship will be decided by interview of all eligible students by 15th September 2017.
The Scholarship will be applicable for 4 years of undergraduate degree, subject to:
- Passing annual exams with at least a 2.1
- Being an ambassador for Loyola Institute through speaking at open days etc.
It is not possible to defer this scholarship and should the student not continue in Catholic Theological Studies the scholarship will lapse
Constantia Maxwell Postgraduate Scholarship
One studentship of €5000 will be awarded to a student entering one of the School of Religions, Peace Studies and Theology's MPhil courses (Christian Theology, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, Intercultural Theology and Interreligious Studies or International Peace Studies) in September, 2017. There is no separate application form; all applications submitted by June 30th, 2017 with unconditional offers will be considered. The award will be made on academic merit.
Sean O’Riordan Scholarships for MPhil in Christian Theology
Thanks to the generous support of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, the Loyola Institute is pleased to announce that two scholarships of €5,000 each are being made available to students applying for the MPhil in Christian Theology at the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin.
Both full time and part time applicants to the MPhil in Christian Theology in September 2017 will be eligible for Sean O’Riordan Scholarships .In the case of students doing the MPhil over two years the award will be a total of €5,000 across the two year period with €2,500 paid per annum (should a student not continue into the second year no award will be payable).

The deadline for applications is 14th June 2017.

Your application should include a letter (maximum 600 words) setting out why you would like to do the MPhil in Christian Theology and why you think you should be considered for a scholarship.
The result is expected to be announced by the end of June.
The Dominic Barberi Studentship for an MPhil in Christian Theology.
Thanks to the generous support of the Passionist Provinces of Britain and Ireland (St Joseph's Province and St Patrick's Province) the Loyola Institute is pleased to announce a scholarship to the value of 8,000 euro for a student applying for the MPhil in Christian Theology at the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin.
Both full time and part time applicants to the MPhil in Christian Theology in September 2017 will be eligible for the Dominic Barberi Studentship. In the case of a student doing the MPhil over two years the award will be a total of 8,000 euro across the two year period with 4,000 euro paid per annum (should a student not continue into the second year no award will be payable).

The Religious Education Teacher Scholarship for an MPhil in Christian Theology.
Thanks to the generous support of the Loyola Trust* the Loyola Institute is pleased to announce a scholarship for a Religious Education Teacher applying for the MPhil in Christian Theology at the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin.
The teacher must be currently working as an RE Teacher in a secondary school in the Republic of Ireland or in Northern Ireland (Retired RE Teachers, or RE Teachers not currently teaching Religious Education will not be eligible).
RE teachers applying to either a full time or part time MPhil in Christian Theology in September 2017 will be eligible for this scholarship. The value of the scholarship is €9,000. In the case of a student doing the MPhil over two years the award will be a total of €9,000 across the two year period with €4,500 paid per annum (should a student not continue into the second year no award will be payable).
Please note that modules will be taught on Monday and Thursday evenings.

- A letter signed by the school Principal confirming that you are currently employed as an RE Teacher in a secondary school in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.

PhD: The Intersection of Theology, Church and Society
The Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin, is pleased to announce a new PhD Scholarship which will fully cover the university's fees, plus an annual award of €13,000 for maintenance, for a period of three years.
This scholarship is being offered for a PhD which will build on the theme of a recent major international conference organised by the Loyola Institute, entitled The Role of Church in a Pluralist Society: Good Riddance or Good Influence?
This scholarship is open to a PhD supervised by a full-time member of the academic staff of the Loyola Institute. It is open to new entrants to the full-time PhD register and covers EU and non-EU fees.
The scholarship is being made available thanks to generous private funding.

a brief letter of motivation;

a CV, including contact details of two academic referees;
- a research proposal of up to 2000 words, covering state of the art, the main research question, key objectives, relevance, the proposed methodological approach, a brief description of the relevant literature, and the proposed timetable for the writing of your thesis.
Note that the procedure will include interviews. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview in Dublin or via Skype. Interviews are scheduled to take place June 19th and 20th 2017.
