About *ship
*ship – The Startup Festival – hosted in Kotka, Finland – connects the next generation of entrepreneurs with mentors worldwide. Bringing together accelerators, growth startups, early-stage startups, investors, students and other entrepreneurial-minded sailors out there, this is one startup event you can’t afford to miss!
*ship is organized annually by PatteriES, a student-run organisation of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences. The event is backed by Google, City of Kotka, Cursor and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.
Festival
*ship 2017 will be held July 11—13th, during Tall Ships Races and Maritime Festival in Kotka, Finland.
This year, *ship is going to be bigger and better than ever! We want to inspire and bring together people who share our passion for entrepreneurship. That means more educational activities at this year’s event; more to see, learn and experience; more people to network with and definitely, a lot more fun!
Ticket Options
We have various ticket options to meet the needs of our visitors.
- EARLY-BIRD Visitor Ticket (Sales end on June 1st)
- REGULAR Visitor Ticket (Includes full access to the event, including Lunch Cruise and invitation to VIP Networking events).
- LIMITED Visitor Ticket (Limited, more of an observatory access to the event. Discounted tickets for students are available for only €19. Please bring your student badge to confirm your identity at the orientation.)

The *ship Growth Track is an investor event on Thursday, July 13th for ICT and mobile entrepreneurs seeking business growth. Hop onboard the *ship, join other investors and entrepreneurs in the maritime fun of the Tall Ships Races in Kotka, Finland. Meet fresh and interesting growth companies from Finland and abroad.
*ship Global University Summit (GUS) brings together the creative minds of education and the rebels in entrepreneurial approaches in teaching. It is a three-day hardcore seminar and workshop to break barriers, showcase best practices and get entrepreneurial mindset to your university’s daily life.
Venue
Kotka is a Finnish city on the coast of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland. It is known by its port, industry and maritime festivals. The city is also known as a multifaceted hub of educational institutions and culture.
Our central location is Maritime Centre Vellamo, while the Pitch Captain Finals are held at the Market Square.
