REC International Film Idea Contest

Publish Date: May 16, 2016

HOW IT WORKS

We host free film treatment contests and develop the winning projects into films. Apart from the cash prize of $1,200, the winner is offered a chance of bringing their film project to life and taking part in the production. The winners of the contest are determined by our jury board made up of accomplished directors, writers and producers.
We launch the production as soon as the final winner of the contest is determined. Our production team handles each selected project individually and covers all aspects from financing to distribution. We respect our participants and never use your ideas without permission. The winner retains full author's rights.

FUNDING

REC is sponsored by venture capital funds (such as Kite Venture Capital) and private investors who provide full sponsorship for each of our selected projects. We also run our own crowdfunding platform.

Eligibility

The competition is open to everyone. One applicant may enter multiple submissions. Likewise, one sumission may have multiple authors.

Genres

We accept treatments for both fiction and documentary feature films. We have no preference for genre.

Criteria

What we are looking for is a summary of your film idea that encompases all the major turning points of the story and gives us a taste of your creative vision. A good synopsis should be coherent and structured; any great narrative has its beginning, middle and end.

Acceptable formats include synopses, video pitches and/or full treatments for feature films. Feel free to include any additional media materials, such as trailers, illustrations, etc. Full-length screenplays are not accepted.

You should give an outline of the characters, key points of the plot and tonal references. As you write, think about story arcs and the way your characters develop as these arcs unravel.

How to Apply

In order to participate fill out a short form on the official website and submit your work as an attachment.

Winners

The winner is selected by the jury. The short-list is published 15 days after the deadline and the final winner is announced in one month.

Timeframe
