2017 Khayrallah Prize in Migration Studies
The Moise Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies is pleased to announce that it is accepting application for the 2017 Khayrallah Migration Studies Article Prize.
The Khayrallah Migration Studies Prize recognizes excellence in scholarly studies from any discipline focusing on any aspect of Middle East and North African migration. Two awards will be given. The first prize, in the amount of $750, is awarded to an established scholar. The second prize, in the amount of $750, is awarded to a graduate student.
Established Scholars: Articles published between June 1, 2016 and May 30, 2017 are eligible for consideration for the 2017 prize and may be submitted by the author or the publisher of a journal, anthology, or volume containing independent essays. A committee of migration scholars, representing diverse disciplines, will select the winning article.
Graduate Students: Papers authored between June 1, 2016 and May 30, 2017 are eligible for consideration for the 2017 prize and may be submitted by the author. A committee of migration scholars, representing diverse disciplines, will select the winning paper. The paper will be subsequently published in the Mashriq & Mahjar: Journal of Middle East and North African Migration Studies.

Applicants must verify date of actual publication for eligibility. ONE entry per scholar or publisher is allowed annually. Essays written in part or in whole in a language other than English must be accompanied by English translations.
Deadline for submission is September 29, 2017. Winners of the award will be announced on the center’s website and through its social media, as well as with an ad in the MESA annual conference program.
