DKFZ Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The DKFZ Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is intended to recruit highly talented and motivated young scientist to the German Cancer Research Center. This program provides interdisciplinary training and research opportunities in state-of-the-art research facilities for excellent young scientists, no longer than 2 years past graduation, who wish to work at the forefront of cancer research in any of basic or translational research labs at the DKFZ.

Next deadline for applications: August 31st, 2016

The DKFZ is Germany’s leading Cancer Research Center situated in the biomedical campus of the Heidelberg University in close vicinity to Heidelberg’s city center. More than 2,000 staff members, including 850 scientists, are engaged in researching the mechanisms of cancer and are working to identify risk factors. Their valuable work is the cornerstone for developing novel approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research provides 90% of the Center’s basic funding; the remainder or 10% comes from the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Heidelberg  is home of other top research centers including the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Max-Planck Institute for Medical Research (MPI) and the Center for Molecular Biology in Heidelberg (ZMBH), with whom the DKFZ maintains close relationships.

About the DKFZ - Facts and Figures

The German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers. The DKFZ has a Nobel Prize winner, the highest density of scientists with an ERC-advanced grant in Europe and is the place with the most Leibniz awardees in life sciences in Germany. Quality and impact of research is documented by more than a hundred publications per year in international peerreviewed journals with an impact factor of above 10. The DKFZ was established in 1964 by the State Government of Baden-Württemberg as a foundation under public law. The aim of research at the DKFZ is to unravel basic mechanisms of cancer development and to translate these new insights into novel diagnostic tools and strategies for cancer therapy and prevention.
