The World Photography Organisation and ZEISS are pleased to launch the second edition of the ZEISS Photography Award ‘Seeing Beyond’, with the theme “Meaningful places”. The competition was established by ZEISS to challenge photographers worldwide.

One winning photographer will be awarded with €12,000 worth of ZEISS lenses, €3,000 travel expenses to complete a dream photography project in the location of their choice plus a trip to London to attend the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards ceremony to recieve their prize.

Photographers have until February 7, 2017 to submit a series of 5-10 images responding to this year’s brief:

The 2017 Brief

Following on from last year’s hugely successful inaugural edition, which attracted entries from 116 countries – from Albania to Zimbabwe, the theme for the 2017 ZEISS Photography Award ‘Seeing Beyond’ is “Meaningful places”. Photographers are asked to look past the ordinary and the “everyday” to capture extraordinary aspects of the world we live in, by documenting the importance of one or several places that bear significance to each other.

The award is free to enter and will be judged by the following industry experts:

Sarah Toplis - Commissioning Executive, ‎The Space

Prizes

One winning photographer will be awarded €12,000 worth of ZEISS lenses in addition to €3,000 travel expenses to complete a photography project of their choice in the location of their choice. This could be your dream photographic trip to document the landscapes and environment of a certain place or highlight a social issue that is close to your heart and you believe needs highlighting.

Images produced during this trip will be showcased across all World Photography Organisation platforms and social channels, giving unparalleled exposure to an engaged and enthusiastic photography audience. The overall winner will be interviewed by the World Photography Organisation editorial team and featured as the lead image on the homepage after the announcement. Runners-ups will also have a chance to showcase their work on the blog.

In addition, the winning series, plus selected entries, will be will be exhibited at Somerset House, London from April 21 - May 7, 2017 during the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.

The ZEISS Photography Award ‘Seeing Beyond’ was created in response to both World Photography Organisation and ZEISS' commitment to provide further opportunities for photographers.

Rules

  • By entering the Competition, You agree and acknowledge that the World Photography Organisation is permitted to receive your registration data. All personal information will be used by the World Photography Organisation in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
  • The Competition is free to enter.
  • The ZEISS Photography Award is open to all Photographers entering a body of work between 3 to 10 images. 
  • All entrants must be over 18.
  • By entering the Competition You hereby accept these Competition Rules and the Terms and Conditions
  • Entries must be submitted by 11.59:59pm (GMT) on Tuesday 7th February 2017.
  • Entries will be judged between the 20th February 2017 and the 22nd February 2017.

  • One winner will be notified by email and will receive return flights to London (economy class) and hotel accommodation for two consecutive nights including the Awards night in April 2017.
  • You may enter a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 images.
  • Winners will be announced online.
