Artificial Intelligence (Al) is a field of study that aims to build and design intelligent agents. Such an agent is rational and human-like; i.e, it has the ability to draw conclusions and learn from previous experience (data). The main content of the talk covers general principles of learning and the process of knowledge discovery from the data. It covers two scientific fields that are closely tied to the field of Al: Machine Learning and Data Mining. Also, it discusses important applications that we encounter in everyday life, e.g. internet-based applications such as spam filter, recommendation systems, game NPCs, computer vision and speech recognition.
About the Speaker Vahe Hakobyan is a Data Scientist at Monitis CJSC, a Masters student at the University of Bonn (faculty of Computer Science, awarded with DAAD scholarship), and has a Master's degree in Mathematics from Yerevan State University. Previously, he was a Student Research Assistant at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in the department of Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems. He has experience in software engineering. Also, he is an active member of the SOAR non-profit organization which provides humanitarian relief to orphaned Armenian children.
