Unique music – Unique philosophy – Unique competition
The International Cochran Piano Competition is an annual innovative international online music event. The use of latest digital technologies enables the competition to have a global reach whilst doing away with the financial and territorial constraints attached to traditional competitions.
The unique philosophy of the competition emphasises artistic development over the purely competitive element. An innovative methodology of assessment frees the jury to award talents of musical judgement, imagination, conviction and sensitivity, regardless of age and origin.
This original evaluation system, which combines feedback with mentorship, opens pianists from around the world to new possibilities of building an international artistic career. The values behind this philosophy are personified by Australian composer Julian Cochran and his music, which became the main source of inspiration for the competition.
