Universities of Israel

Six out of all Israelian universities are included in the global rankings and are presented below.

The oldest university in the country, Technical-Israel Institute of Technology, was established more than 30 years before the State of Israel's establishment. It was founded in 1912 and, for many years, was under the governance of the Ottoman Empire. Currently, Technicon has a high reputation in the country and the whole Middle East. The university has a dedicated international department where all the courses are entirely in English.

The second-largest university, which holds the highest positions in the global rankings in Hebrew University of Jerusalem, founded in 1918. The university has four campuses across the country, three of which are located in Jerusalem. You can find many English courses here, especially at the Master's level.

Student expenses in Israel

The two main components of student expenses in Israel, tuition fees and accommodation costs are rather affordable in Israel. First of all, government funds cover up to 70% of fees for public universities. As most of the institutions in Israel are public universities, you have the excellent opportunity to study with low fees.

Private universities usually charge 4,000-30,000 USD per year, depending on your chosen university and institution. The fee range for English programs is narrower. You should pay 6,000-25,000 USD for a course taught in English

University student accommodations are a popular stay option for international students; however, not all students are granted the opportunity to live in on-campus dormitories because of the limited number of student utilities. Privately rented houses cost around 600-800 USD monthly.

You might consider working in parallel to your studies to support your expenses. Note that only master's Ph.D. of other postdoctoral level students can work on a part-time basis within the universities. International Bachelor's students are not allowed to work in Israel.

International students need to have an A/2 Student visa for their studies in Israel. A/2 grants the opportunity to enter and leave the country multiple times within the 1-year period.
