University of Twente PHD Position Protein Mimicking Polymer Nanoparticles 2017, Netherlands

Publish Date: Feb 16, 2017

Deadline: Feb 28, 2017

PHD POSITION PROTEIN MIMICKING POLYMER NANOPARTICLES

Proteins are among the most complex structures developed by Nature. Chemically synthesizing proteins is still beyond the limits of feasibility. Polymer nanoparticles that mimic certain features proteins display are highly promising for applications in the biomedical field. In our interdisciplinary research group, we are focusing on the development of new drug delivery systems and hybrid imaging modalities.

The goal of the current project is to develop polymer nanoparticles that can be functionalized to form protein mimics and studying their properties in a biological environment.

YOUR PROFILE

Candidates must hold a research-based MSc degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, pharmacy, nanotechnology or a related field. A background in organic chemistry and fluency in English are required. Experience in the fields of polymer chemistry, familiarity with chemical characterization techniques and experience in cell biology are of advantage.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and interactive candidate with excellent communication skills. Despite regular supervision, the eligible candidate is able perform its work independently and have its own driving force for research.

Interested candidates are invited to send the application, detailed curriculum vitae (2 page maxium) and a letter elaborating the motivation for the application before 28 February 2017.
