Trainee position in Astronomy

The trainee position is open in Astronomy in Tuorla Observatory, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Turku. The duration of the position is two months.
The trainee will work at Tuorla Observatory in Kaarina on observing and analyzing optical light curves of blazars. This is part of a larger study where multiwavelength observations are used to understand the magnetic field structure and emission mechanisms in blazar jets.
The trainee will analyze flares in optical light curves collected at Tuorla observatory over the last 15 years, and has the opportunity to conduct optical observations of blazars using the Tuorla-operated KVA telescope. The duration of the summer job is 2 months (start and end times can be negotiated).
Required skills: Some knowledge in observational astronomy and basics of some high level scripting language such as Python or Perl.
The salary of the position is 1187€/month.
