PhD Research fellowship in Education Research

A position as research fellow is vacant at the Department of Teacher Education and School Research in Education Research with a particular focus on the areas Educational Governance and Leadership. The position will be linked to an ongoing research project funded by Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study, titled “Assessing the Impact of Leadership Preparation (PreLead), cf. which started in 2016.

Formal education of school leaders has gained increased interest internationally. But the field offers few specifics about what happens when school leaders enter the field and attempt to apply their theoretical knowledge and value orientation to practice. The project has a comparative design which examines the complexities of university-based leadership Masters Programs in two different testing and accountability policy contexts. Proposals which aim to identify the interplay between leadership preparation, educational policies, and leadership practices in schools’ efforts to promote democracy, human rights, and equity across national contexts are particularly welcome.

The Department of Teacher Education and School Research organizes four research groups. It is expected that the applicant is affiliated with the research group Curriculum Studies, Leadership and Educational Governance.

Positions as research fellows are fixed-term educational posts where the aim is that the research fellow is to complete a doctoral degree (PhD) during the period of employment. A prerequisite for employment is admission to the Faculty’s doctoral degree program, and applicants’ formal and other qualifications for admission will therefore also be assessed. Research fellowship positions are defined as recruitment posts and represent an important instrument in the sector’s work of generating qualified applicants for other academic posts at universities and university colleges in the long-term perspective.
