The workshop “Young Researchers at the Crossroads”
The Workshop will take place at IFISC, Mallorca (Spain), 2-4 June 2017, on occasion of the 10th anniversary of IFISC (Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, UIB-CSIC). This event will coincide with the conference “Crossroads in Complex Systems” (5-8 June 2017), which will be held just after the workshop.
It is known that a group is more than the sum of its components. With this in mind, this pre-event workshop aims to offer young researchers from all over the world a space for interaction, giving rise to emergent behaviors. The participants will learn cutting-edge communication methods, exchange their different views on science, present their work, discuss it with their peers, and establish new and exciting ties with other young researchers. Being our view that skills can only be acquired and improved by directly using them in practical cases, the workshop will also focus on hands-on sessions specifically designed to promote collaboration. Last but not least, the main social event of the workshop will take place on Sunday in one of the beautiful beaches of the Island of Mallorca.

Registration
The registration for the workshop is now open. To do so, please send us your CV and a few lines (250 words) explaining what would be your ideal contribution to science and why are you willing to participate in the workshop to yrx.mallorca@gmail.com, with Registration_YourName as email subject.
The number of participants is limited and the selection will be made taking into account your personal profile and CV.
Attendance costs
We are aware that Mallorca is a touristic hot spot during summer and, consequently, cheap accommodation and flights might be hard to find if not booked in advance.
To facilitate the participation of everyone in the workshop, we tried to lighten the economic pressure by not having any attendance fee.
Coffee breaks will be included and there are several affordable canteens and restaurants within the university campus. Finally, once the pre-acceptance notifications have been issued, we will provide coordination assistance and advice for groups of participants willing to share accommodation.
Important dates
31st, March: Application deadline.
7th, April: Pre-acceptance notification.
30th, April: Proof of interest deadline (Given that registration is free, we ask you to proof your commitment to participate in the workshop by sending us any of the following documents: your flight invoice, your accommodation booking, or the invoice of your registration to the main conference “Crossroads in Complex Systems”).
2nd, May: Final acceptance notification.
