Slavonic Studies Summer School with Scholarships 2017, Czech Republic

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports offers three scholarships to Danish applicants at the courses of Summer School of Slavonic Studies 2017 (SSSS).

Each of the following three Faculties of Arts of the Czech Universities offers one scholarship to Danish applicants:

  1. SSSS Prague: 28 July - 25 August 2017, Charles University
  2. SSSS Brno: 15 July - 12 August 2017, Masaryk University
  3. SSSS Olomouc: 22 July - 20 August 2017, Palacky University

Danish Universities or other competent and responsible bodies will nominate their candidates for the scholarships. Their applications will be sent to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen no later than 15 March 2017. The Embassy will then forward the applications to the Ministry – the chosen applicants will be duly informed.

The scholarship covers course fee, meals, accommodation, tuition and access to cultural events held as part of the SSSS.

The courses are designed for foreign students, experts (teachers, translators, interpreters) and academics in the field of Bohemistic and Slavonic studies.  Due to the broad coverage they are also open for all individuals who are interested in Czech language, literature, history and culture. As part of its educational sections the SSSS offers Czech language courses at various levels, seminars focusing on Czech literature, culture and history, free-time activities including theatre, music and dance performances, excursions, trips etc.

For 2017, the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers a limited number of scholarships for participation in the Summer School courses to applicants from the following countries (listed alphabetically):

Eligible countries:

Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium – Flemish Community, Belgium – French Community, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada (Alberta), China, Colombia, Croatia, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

Each scholarship consists of free board and lodging, coverage of course fees and free access to cultural events which are part of the course programme.  

Information on scholarships is available from the appropriate Czech diplomatic missions. Scholarships can only be awarded to applicants who are nominated by the competent authorities in the aforementioned countries (the selection of applicants is usually performed by the respective foreign government agencies; in several cases by the Czech diplomatic missions). Application dossiers should reach the  Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic by 31 March 2017. Please note that the respective agencies in the recipient countries can set earlier application deadlines.
