Who can apply
To apply for a Science Media Studentship, you should be a PhD-level biomedical scientist who wants to have a career in the broadcast, games or film industry in the UK or Republic of Ireland. You must have a confirmed place on a course before a studentship can be awarded.
Competitive applicants will have some experience of science communication and/or working in the broadcast, games or film industries.
What we offer
We offer financial support to pay for tuition costs and basic living expenses for the duration of each Science Media Studentship. We fund up to two students a year at Imperial College London, and up to one student a year at the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
Imperial College London
A studentship at Imperial College London offers financial support for 18 months to undertake:
a 12-month postgraduate qualification (MSc) in Science Communication
a 6-month placement in the broadcasting industry.

National Film and Television School
A studentship at the NFTS offers financial support for 24 months to undertake a postgraduate qualification (MA) in Games Design and Development.
How to apply
Your application will be assessed by Imperial College London or the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Please don’t apply to the Wellcome Trust.
After the application deadline, Imperial College London or the NFTS will shortlist candidates for interview. At this stage, the Wellcome Trust will consider these candidates for studentships.
