Prime Minister's Business Scholarships

MBIE administers the annual Prime Minister’s Business Scholarships.

The 2016 application round for the Prime Ministers Business Scholarships is now open.

Applications close 12.00pm, 27 June 2016.

The scholarships aim to improve the international competitiveness of New Zealand businesses by developing the management and leadership skills of business owners, senior managers and executives of internationalising firms.

Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to attend international business schools and bring their knowledge and contacts back to their businesses and New Zealand.

If you wish to be contacted when more information becomes available, subscribe to updates.

Scholarship benefits

The scholarships offer benefits to the applicant, their business and the wider economy:

The individual has the opportunity to gain new management and leadership skills and network with international colleagues, which may advance their career.

The individual shares their knowledge and international perspective with the company, which may lead to innovative thinking and greater competitiveness. The company is also seen as a progressive employer with a reputation of having internationally qualified people.

New Zealand increases the number of business leaders with a global mind-set, helping our businesses operate to international best practices.

Eligibility and application details

The scholarships are for applicants who plan to study at an international business school in a course related to their work.

The government will reimburse successful applicants with half their course costs and other study-related costs. The balance must be paid for by themselves and/or their employer/business.

All study-related costs must be detailed in the application and can include:

Applicants must be:
